This has to be my favorite book in the series. There is just the right amount of conflict and "downtime," which allowed for more character development; that of which made this book so much better.

Thalia is making her way home with her father, after they arrive her father tells her she is to be married to Fenri, otherwise her uncle will petition that the leadership be turned over to her cousin. Thalia refuses Fenri, thus begins the Kragh Aru. A competition for anyone, denai excluded, to fight for the hand of Thalia.

Before the final fight of the Kragh Aru, Thalia is again taken from her home. Who shows up to find her? Of course the ever present Kael. Joss appears at the same time to ask Thalia for help finding his sister, who has just disappeared.

Skyfell: a floating city surrounded by a veil of mist, so heavy you can only view glimpses of the city when the mist swirls. While at skyfell, the competition between Kael and Joss intensifies. Skyfell is also where Thalia finds a conne tion to the Iron Butterfly.

Chandra Hahn did definitely has a way with words and emotions. For example pages 139- 141 had me laughing at the terrified faces of the characters, I could just picture it. Page 246 is another example, possibly my favorite in the book. She definitely had me laughing and smiling, and mad at certain characters as well as concerned for others.

I first read Iron Butterfly, then it's successor Steele Wolf. I downloaded these books because they were rated so well. After reading them, I realized they were geared toward a younger audience (not for a 50 yr old like myself). However, I really enjoyed them. They were original and captivating. I was glued to the books all night long. I told all my friends who have teenage readers to buy them for their daughters. They take place in an alternate universe (think middle earth-like Lord of the Rings). They involves fairies, sorcerers, dragons, warring tribes, enchanted kingdoms, and so much more. The heroine is a 17 yr old girl who survives being held captive by an evil sorcerer and procedes from there. A really good read!! I whole heartedly endorse these books.
I am really enjoying The Iron Butterfly series. I downloaded the 1st book for free and gladly paid for the Steele Wolf. I agree with others, it does need some work on the editing, however, I did not feel that it took away from the story. I found both books very entertaining and could not put either down. There are a few questions I am left with that I hope the future book(s?) will answer. ***Possibly Spoiler *** Like- what clan was Thalia's mom from? Why is there the wolf guardian? Is he just waiting for someone to call him or is there a specific person he is for or does Thalia get multiple guardians?
Also I am curious to see which man Thalia ends up with. I like both men, but do think it would be interesting if she ended up with Joss. Two clans that hate each other united by the marriage of both clan's future leader would be interesting, however, I have a feeling she will not end up with him.

I am looking forward to the next book in this series!
Steele Wolf was so much better than the first book in the series. It only took me two hours to read, I devoured it so fast!

There was much more characterization put into this book. I breathed a sigh of relief when I realized that. Even characters that aren't around for the entire story (Thalia's father, the rest of their clan, the people in Skyfell) are described more than any of the main characters were in the first book. It was nice to see improvement there.

We were also finally allowed to see the main characters' histories. Thalia regains her memory, we learn more about Kael, and we find out that Joss actually has a family. There's also finally an explanation of who the villains are, what they're are doing to the people they kidnap, and why Kael seems to be stalking Thalia.

Skyfell was a fun city. I loved the fun descriptions of the city and its transportation.

Now, if only that obnoxious love triangle would end! (I may be a bit biased in this case, though. I'm totally rooting for Kael.)

I'm very much looking forward to the next book! Now, I just have to wait for it to actually come out...

Before the IRON BUTTERFLY series, I wasn't Hahn's biggest fan. I thought she was ALRIGHT, but nothing worth buying.

After reading IRON BUTTERFLY, I was fascinated. So it wasn't surprising that I eventually purchased STEELE WOLF.

I still like the characters and I love this rendition of an old tale (or I should say a "done before" story). The grammatical/structural errors, though noticed, didn't irritate me enough to put it down.

I like the direction that this series is going in. I also appreciate that she wraps up each book in a way that the reader knows there is more, but doesn't feel obligated to continue.

The only issue that I have with this series (or maybe it`s her style?) is that there are A LOT of times that I am more aware of the main character's situation than what she is...and this story is told through the "I" perspective...

I'm not referring to the who-likes-who aspect of this story. I am referring to the who-done-it aspect of the story. Or the supposed mysteries that arise within these stories.

This would REALLY upset me if these books were in the genre of "mystery," but since they are not, it is just an annoyance.

I know that her books fall within the "young adult" category, but it almost seems like the author doesn't think so highly of her intended audience. She dumbs things down in a way that simplifies something that wasn't really needed.

Don't get me wrong. I still like the story and the series. I will, most likely, purchase the third book when it comes out. I hope that the third book will improve upon the issue that I (and I imagine a few others) have.

Either way Hahn's series is a great time killer.
